North East Frontier Railway is setting up a project for new BG Railway line from New Maynaguri to Jogighopa in Assam. The execution of the project will provide an alternate route to Guwahati via Naranarayan setu across river Brahmaputra and to connect the important cities like Tufanganj, Boxirhat, Bilasipara and Chapar of West Bengal and Assam with Railway line. As of November 2014, company is in the land acquisition for the project.
