Power Grid Corporation of India is implementing a North Eastern Region Power System Improvement Project, which is for six states - Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland. Estimated cost for the project is Rs. 51110 Million, which will be funded with a World Bank loan and the budget of the ministry of power, in a 50:50 ratio. As of November 2014, Union Cabinet has approved the project implementation.
