Essar Steel India is setting up a project for modernise its existing steel plant at Hazira by changing its steel making route from existing DRI based Electric Arc Furnace by Hot Metal based Basic Oxygen Furnace (BoF). The proposed project comprises the implementation of 1 No. Twin station hot metal desulphurization unit, 1 No. of hot metal granulation unit and 1 No. of additional ladle furnace. As of December 2014, environmental clearance for the proposed unit is underway.
