Ministry of Road Transport & Highways is setting up a project for rehabilitation and upgradation of NH-44 in Meghalaya. The project involves the rehabilitation and upgradation of existing road to two-lane with paved shoulders configuration in Jowai-Meghalaya/Assam Border Section of NH-44 from km 69.200 to km 173.200. As of December 2014, pre-qualification has invited for the project.
