`Shiga Energy, a unit of DANS Group, is setting up the Tashiding Hydel Power Project on Rathangchu River, West Sikkim. The project is an R-O-R type development & which involves the construction of 20 Mtrs. high barrage above the crest level, HRT running through a length of 5.437 kms. The surface power house is proposed to house two units with rated capacity of 48.5 MW each and the evacuation of power is proposed through a 27 kms. long transmission line. For the proposed project company has appointed Sikkim Energy Infratech as the consultant and has awarded the contract to Alstom India, for the design, manufacture, supply, installation, testing etc of the entire electro mechanical package associated with the power project. As of December 2014, civil work on the project is underway.
