Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation planning to take up a project for extending the Harbour line services upto Virar, on the western suburbs, Mumbai. As of January 2015, MRVC has proposed the project to the railway minister and the chief minister. The corporation is also expanding nine-car trains to 12-car ones on the Harbour line, which will be completed in a year.
