Power Grid Corporation of India is constructing a transmission line between Punatsangchu - Alipurduaraar. The project is proposed for evacuating 1200 MW power generated by Punatsanghcu stage I Hydel station, of Royal Govt. of Bhutan, to various parts of India, through Alipurduar substation. As of February 2015, company has applied for forest clearances.
