Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation is taking up a project for the addition of a new eight-lane corridor to its Mumabi-Pune Expressway and old highway in the state. The project will come up as a part of its expansion programme and which involves the implementation of an elevated corridor between Khopoli and Khandala, making it a 14-lane stretch. As of February 2015, project is in the planning stage and is expected to be completed in four or five years.
