Power Grid Corporation of India is setting up a transmission line project at Jammu & Kashmir. The project involves the laying of 220 KV transmission line from Alusteng in Srinagar to Leh via Drass, Kargil and Khalsti. As of February 2015, PGCIL has awarded the contract to Gammon India for implementing the tower Package-TW01 for 220 kV S/C Alusteng (Srinagar)-Drass transmission line (Part-I).
