Mahanadi Coalfields is setting up a project for the expansion of its Samaleswari open cast mine, Jharsuguda. The project involves increasing the coal mining capacity from 5 MTPA to 11 MTPA. As of March 2015, Mahanadi Coalfields has received environmental clearance from MoEF.
