Power Grid Corporation of India is setting up a modernization project for replacing the existing transmission systems of low voltage 66 kv and below with modern 132 kV transmission system backed up by the 33 kv distribution system at Tripura. As of March 2015, project is in the planning stage and PGCIL will took up the same transmission line modernization project to another 7 more states in India.
