'Monnet Power Company has reported progress on its 1050 Mw coal-based power plant coming up at Chhendipada near Angul in Orissa. Monnet Power had signed an MoU (memorandum of understanding) with the state government in September 2006. As of March 2013, the project is in the advanced stages of commissioning. The first t 525 Mw unit will be commissioned by September 2013 and the second unit of equal capacity is expected to be operational by December 2013.
