OPG Power Generation is planning to install a 720 MW coal based thermal power plant at Periya Obulapuram, Nagaraja Kandigai. The proposed unit will come up just adjacent to the operating units of 414 MW Power Plant owned by OPG Power group. Coal and High Speed Diesel (HSD) / HFO will be the fuels used in the plant. As of April 2015, company has approached MoEF for clearances.
