Andhra Pradesh Mineral Development Corporation is planning to set up a unit for improving the quality of barytes mined from the Mangampeta mines of Kadapa district. The project, proposed a joint venture with ONGC involves setting up a unit to purify 50 lakh tonne barytes in order to produce 5-7 lakh tonne of purified mineral. As of May 2015, ONGC has entered into a memorandum of understanding with APDMC for setting up the project.
