'Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation has reported progress on its aluminum smelter project coming up in joint venture with Nalco. The project involves setting up a aluminium smelter of capacity 1.0 million tpa and 0.5 million tpa alumina refinery in Kutch district of Gujarat. As of December 2012, the project is in the plannig stage. Work on the project is expected to begin in April 2012.
