Steel Authority of India and ArcelorMittal are jointly planning to set up a 1.5 million tonnes per annum steel plant in India. The proposed plant will be located in any one of the following auto cluster namely Pune-Chakan belt in Maharashtra; in the outskirts of Chennai in Tamil Nadu; Sanad in Gujarat; and the Gurgaon-Neemrana belt spread across Haryana and Rajasthan. As of June 2015, the project is still in the planning stage.
