Mesco Steel is planning to take up an expansion programme at its recently acquired Maithan Ispat unit in Odisha. The project involves installing an electric arc furnace of 50 tonne, a billet castor of the same capacity and a rolling mill in the first phase and installing two DRI kilns of 500 tpa in the second phase. The second phase also involves increasing the power plant from 30 MW to 90 MW.
