Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is setting up the Vijayawada metro rail phase I, which connects Siddhartha College to Penamaluru, Vijayawada. The proposed line will include 21 stations, with Pandit Nehru Bus Station (PNBS) as a main station. In. March 2015, detailed project report (DPR) for the project has been prepared and feasibility study on connecting Vijayawada with Thullur, the proposed Capital area, through Metro Rail, has been conducted by DMRC. As of September 2015, DMRC has been entrusted with the work of implementing the Vijayawada Metro Rail Project.
