REC Transmission Projects Company is planning to take up Vemagiri II Power Transmission Project in AP. The project involves establishing a 765kV D/c from Vemagiri to Cuddapah via Chilakaluripeta, wherein a 765/400kV Substation has been proposed, which would facilitate dispersal of power beyond Vemagiri. Further High capacity 400kV D/c have been proposed from Vemagiri, Chilakaluripeta and Cuddapah for Injection/ dispersal of power. As of October 2015, six companies namely PGCIL, Sterlite Grid, Adani, Inabensa Bharat, Kalpataru Power Transmission, Consortium of Megha Engineering & Gayatri Projects have been short-listed for executing the project. A new SPV in the style of 'Vemagiri II Transmission Ltd' has been formed to execute the project.
