Mahanadi Bhasin Power, a subsidiary of Mahanadi Coalfields is setting up a a pit head 2X800 MW coal based power plant at Basundhara in Sundargarh district. As of September 2015, the project has been approved by the state's High Level Clearance Authority ( HLCA).
