Mahanadi Basin Power, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mahanadi Coalfields is setting up 2x800 MW power plant at the mouth of a coal field in the Mahanadi basin in Orissa. The preliminary work for the proposed power project has already begun, the land for the plant has been identified and the process for obtaining coal linkages is underway. As of November 2015, the company is in the process of appointing a consultant for the project.
