Numaligarh Refinery is planning to set up a Bamboo based Bioethanol Project in Golaghat district of Assam. The biorefinery will annually convert 3,00,000 tonnes of bamboo (on dry basis) into 50,000 tonnes of fuel grade bioethanol and 30,000 tonnes of biochemicals (acetic acid, furfural, furfuryl alcohol) . As of November 2015, environment clearance for the project is underway.
