constructing a combination of two new bridges and two new tunnels. The augmentation involves increasing from the existing 10 lanes to 14 lanes between Mumbai and Pune (including old Mumbai-Pune Highway). The project also involves widening the Expressway and National Highway 4 (Old Mumbai-Pune Highway) and a cable stayed bridge of 810m would begin from Khalapur Toll Post followed by a tunnel of 1,620m and a cable stayed bridge of 865m length and finally 7,765m long tunnel will culminate next to Sinhgad Institute. The project is to be implemented on Built-Operate-Transfer basis and expected to be ready in just over four year's time. As of December 2015, the project is awaiting state government's approval.
