South Eastern Coalfields is planning to take up development of Mahamaya Open Cast Project in Surguja district of Chhattisgarh with annual coal production of 1.5 million tonnes. The project report of the Mahamaya Open Cast Project had been prepared by Regional Institute No. 5 of Central Mine Planning and Design Institute. As of December 2015, SECL is now looking to get the financial appraisal done for the project.
