Karnataka State Highways Improvement Project is planning to take up improvement of SH-27 from Sringeri to Handi, SH-27 from Shanivarasanthe to Madikere with a spur route ( SH - 85) from Somwarpet to Kodagu district Border and SH-69 from Kumta to Yekkumbi in the state of Karnataka. As of December 2015, environment clearance for the project is underway.
