A consortium headed by GJ Nature Care & Energy is setting up a MSW based power plant in Kochi. The project will be implemented in the DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate and transfer) model under public-private partnership. The proposed plant will be capable of processing 400 tonne of waste daily. The plant will use Gassiifcation Technology from Biomass Power Ltd UK. As of January 2016, Kochi Corporation Council has approved the waste-to-energy plant and the task of preparing a feasibility report for the project has been entrusted with KITCO .
