'Power Company of Karnataka is planning to set up a 2X660 MW coal based power project in Gulbarga district. As of May 2013, the company is planning to issue RfPs ( Request For Proposal) for the proposed Gulbarga project as soon as legal department gives the clearance. The project has been proposed under the Case-2 bidding framework according to the competitive bidding guidelines. In Case-2 bidding the central or the state government will assist private developers in securing land, water and mandatory clearances for setting up large power plants. It may be noted that Private players like Tata Power, GMR Energy, Jindal Power, Shree Cement, GVK Industries, Adani Power and Reliance have evinced their interest for setting up the project.
