Neyveli Lignite Corporation is planning to set up a coal based power project in Nagapattinam district of Andhra Pradesh. The company is in the process of acquiring land through Government of Tamil Nadu and obtaining clearances from various statutory authorities. As of July 2013, the Union Ministry of Coal has allocated Jigla-Barpalli Coal block at Korba and Rajgarh districts of Chhattisgarh for the project.
