'Neyveli Lignite Corporation, in Joint venture with Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidut Uthpadan Nigam are planning to set up a coal based power project in Uttar Pradesh. The project involves setting up a 1,980 MW (3X600 MW) coal-based thermal power project at Ghatampur in Kanpur Nagar District of Uttar Pradesh. As of July 2013, the Union Ministry of Coal has allocated Pachwara-South Block of Rajmahal Coal field in the Dumka District of Jharkand for the project.
