Sterlite port is planning to redevelop Mormugao port in Goa. The project involves redevelopment of existing berths 8,9 and barge in the port. The proposed berths will have capacity of 19.22 million TPA to handle all types of cargo including iron, coal and general cargo. As of April 2016, the company is planning to sign a MoU with Mormugao port to execute the project on develop, build , finance, operate and transfer basis for 30 years. The project will be commissioned in 3 to 5 years time.
