Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is planning to set up a waste-to-energy plant on 12 ha of Deonar dumping ground located in the suburbs of Mumbai. The BMC is exploring three technologies , namely, bio-methanisation, waste-to-energy mass incineration, and segregation and compost to be used in this plant for the scientific disposal of garbage. The capacity of the plant will be 2,000 tonne capacity. As of June 2016, Tata Consultancy Services has completed its preliminary draft project report for setting up the project.
