Konkan Railway Corporation is planning to take up new railway line between Chiplun and Karad railway stations. The 103km-long railway line is estimated to cost Rs 31,956 million.. As of August 2016, Konkan Railway has signed an MoU with with Shapoorji Pallonji & Co for construction of the new railway line.
