Indian Railways is planning to take up construction of third line between Vijaywada Junction and Gudur Junction at an estimated cost of Rs.38756 million. The 287.67 km long railway line is expected to be completed in six years. As of September 2016, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given approval for the project.
