'NMDC Power a subsidiary of NMDC, is planning to set up a 500 MW coal based thermal power in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. The project involves setting up two coal based units with 250 MW capacity each. NMDC Power will source out the coal from Shahpur west and east coal blocks, in Madhya Pradesh, allocated to the company by the Coal Ministry. As of July 2013, the project is in the planning stage.
