West Bengal Power Development Corporation is planning to rebuild the Kolaghat thermal plant in West Bengal. The coal fired plant at Kolaghat in East Medinipur district of West Bengal has a total of six units with a total capacity of 1260 MW (210MW x 6). The project involves rebuilding aged three units with a total capacity 630 MW. The detailed project report has been prepared. The company is in talks with international development fiance institutions for getting funds for the proposed project. WBPDCL is likely to float the tender for the project by early 2014
