Indian Railways, in a JV with City and Industrial Development Corporation is planning to develop the Uran-CST railway project. The project was originally mooted in 1996-97 but was delayed due to various reasons. The project envisages a railway lines connecting Nerul and Belapur via Kile and Uran. As of October 2013, work on the project has just resumed.
