Velankini Renewable Energy is planning to set up a the 72 MW Rolep HEP in East Sikkim District of Sikkim. The project envisages construction of a 45 m high concrete gravity dam across Rangpo river (a tributary of Teesta River near Rolep village in East Sikkim District of Sikkim to generate 63 MW of hydropower. As of October 2013, the project has received first level of environment clearance from Ministry of Environment and Forests
