NHPC is planning to to develop a 1320 MW Pit Head Coal Based TPP in Surajpur District of Chhattisgarh. As of October 2013, the company has sought approval of the Public Investment Board (PIB) for equity participation to an extent of 74% in IFFCO Chhattisgarh Power Limited (ICPL) which is a Joint Venture between IFFCO and Chhattisgarh State Power Holding Company Limited (CSPHCL). The award of BTG package, which is the main critical activity will be awarded within six months after getting investment approval/clearance from PIB/CCEA. Power from the station would be evacuated through one 400 kV double circuit line to the proposed 400 kV sub station of CSEB at Raipur.
