Rashtriya Ispat Nigam is revamping its blast furnace-I at the Vizag plant. Siemens VAI, Austria, will execute the revamp project which will increase the furnace's melting capacity to 2.5 million tpa from 1.8 million tpa. Upon completion, the project would increase the size of the 3,200-cubic-metre furnace to 3,800 cu.m. As of October 2013, work on the project has just been completed.
