Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation is planning to take up development of Sondiha coal block which is a part of Tatapani-Ramkola coalfields and located in the north eastern part of Sarguja district. The block consists of 31.480 million tonne of opencast reserve and 18.942 million tonne of underground reserve.The grade of coal ranges from C to E. The block shall be operated by opencast and underground method of mining. As of December 2013, the project has received clearance from Ministry of Environment & Forests.
