National Highways Authority of India is planning to take a six lane project in Jalandhar-Amritsar section of Punjab. The total length of the road will be approximately 20 km. The project covers Jalandhar and Kapurthala districts of Punjab. As of November 2013, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the development of the project.
