National Highways Authority of India planning to take four laning highway in Varanasi. The project involves four-laning of Ghaghar bridge to Varanasi section from 121.800 km to 299.350 km of NH-233 in the state of Uttar Pradesh under NHDP Phase-IV. As of December 2013, bids have been invited to implement the project on DBFOT basis.
