Indian Garnet Sand Co is planning to take up sand mining at Goakhandi for extraction of illiminite. The project involves only manual scrapping upto a depth of 30 cm and then transportation to the pre-concentration unit. At the pre-concentration unit the mineral will be separated by magnetic separators. No water shall be used at the concentration stage. As of January 2014, environment clearance for the project is underway.
