Central Coalfields is planning to develop the Damodar River Diversion (DRD) open cast (OC) mine project in Bokaro district of Jharkhand. As of January 2014, bids have been invited for development and operation of the DRD OC mine through a mine developer-cum-operator (MDO). The selected mine-developer-cum-operator (MDO) will be responsible for designing, financing, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of a coal washery, and will undertake coal washing.
