National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is planning to take up two laning of Karaikudi-Ramanathapuram road, an extension of Tiruchi-Ramanathapuram stretch on NH 49. As of February 2014, NHAI is planning to invite bids shortly. The projects will be financed by the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways.
