South Western Railway is planning to develop a new railway link between Gadag and Wadi in Karnataka.The proposed line will cover various districts such as Gadag, Koppal, Raichur and Gulbarga. The cost of the project will be shared by both, the Karnataka government and the government of India, each on a 50 per cent basis. As of February 2014, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the project.
