Jindal India Thermal Power has reported progress on its upcoming Angul pit-head thermal power project located in the village of Derang, District Angul, state Odisha. The project will have a planned generation capacity of 1800 MW, consisting of three units of 600 MW each. The three units of 600 MW each will be developed in phases. As of May 2014, BHEL, the turnkey contractor has commissioned the first phase and commissioning activity for phase II is underway.
