Tata Power is taking up modernization of Trombay power plant Unit-6, with 500 MW. In the project the company is expected to fully utilise the 216 million tonne of fly ash that the unit will generate. It will also ensure that the sulphur and ash content in the imported coal does not exceed 0.28 per cent and 5.5 per cent respectively. As of June 2014, the company has received approval from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for modernisation project.
