Udupi City Municipal Council is planning to set up a waste-to-energy plant in the city. The project involves setting up a 70 tonne per day waste-to-energy plant, adopting pyrolysis technology for scientific processing of municipal solid waste on DBFOT basis. As of June 2014, the the Municipal Council has invited bids for providing consultancy for preparation of feasibility report.
