National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) in co-ordination with the state government's Public Works Department, Department of Urban Development and the Department of North Bengal Development is planning to take up Panitanki-Bagdogra-Fulbari (Asian Highway-2) Road Project. The 37 km corridor will run from Panitanki near Siliguri on India-Nepal border to Fulbari in the same district on India-Bangladesh border. As of June 2014, the West Bengal (WB) government has cleared the project and has referred to the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) for approval.
